Brian Branfireun
Brian Branfireun is a Professor and the Canada Research Chair in Environment and Sustainability in the Department of Biology and Centre for Environment and Sustainability at Western University in London, Ontario. He has been studying mercury in the environment for over 20 years, focussing on processes that form methyl mercury in wetlands and watersheds, and how these things are affected by climate and land-use change. He has published over 60 papers and 2 book chapters, largely focussing on mercury in the environment.
He has worked on community-led projects on mercury in water and fish with First Nations in the Yukon Territory, the Northwest Territories and Ontario, and is an advisor on mercury-related issues to communities, non-governmental organizations, governments, and the media in Canada and the United States.
