Scholarships and Research Grants

On the global stage, the emergence of Indigenous scholarship is being fostered through the growing presence of Indigenous scholars in academic institutions, and through the collaborative innovations Indigenous communities are leading to develop a base of research about their daily lives, realities and challenges.

In the field of Indigenous health scholarship, this represents a new, hopeful, and more inclusive way of doing research as it supports community-driven efforts to create the conditions for improvements in health and well-being.

The development of Ontario’s Indigenous Mentorship Network is guided by an an Anishinabe concept Mno Nimkodadding Geegi (translation: “we are all connected”).  This concept relates to our Network’s goals of mentorship, to our responsibilities and relatedness with local communities, but also to the ways we understand health and well-being.

IMN-Ontario understands health and well-being across many dimensions and scales, from the individual and reaching to family, community, environment, and inclusive of historical experiences and the contemporary political, cultural, social and economic structures and environments that impact health and well-being day to day.

If you have questions about whether your proposed project fits within IMN’s mandate, please contact the Program Coordinator, Katie Big-Canoe at imnp@uwo.ca.
